Begin this week’s activities by viewing the Healthy People 2020 website at http://www.healthypeople.gov/2020/topics-objectives/topic/physical-activity. Review the material on the overview, objective, and national snapshot tabs on this webpage. Select and review at least 1 of the consumer information resources on the interventions and resources tabs. Consider: What is my level of physical activity? How does it impact how I function at work, in school, and in the community? When my patients look at me what do they see? Am I a role model for physical activity and health? Consider the impact on your credibility as a patient educator.  Nursing homework help

We have all “heard” it before. Physical activity is good for us. It reduces the risk of and mitigates against the effects of chronic illness. It improves mood by stimulating the release of the body’s natural antidepressants-endorphins. It helps relieve stress and it helps us maintain a healthy body weight. It helps maintain our strength and stamina. Take a moment to reflect: Do you do more than just “hear it”? What effects have your level of physical activity had on your life? Your career? Your family and social relationships?

Consider this week’s module an opportunity for deeper reflection, self-assessment and personal and professional renewal. The Centers for Disease Control website http://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/index.html offers readings, educational videos, tools and strategies for improving and enhancing personal, family, workplace and community physical activity.  Conduct a comprehensive review of each of the sections. Prior to completing your review on the above, also turn your attention to the state physical activity indicator report for 2014 at https://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/downloads/pa_state_indicator_report_2014.pdf These reports will provide community wide assessment updates and information.

After reading the websites cited above, develop a one-page Physical Activity Resource Brochure/infographic. Imagine that your peers all live in the same general location. Research one fun and unusual but accessible activity that will meet the physical activity goals of you and your peers.

Remember to search for activities on Living Social, Groupon, Department of Recreation and Parks brochures, club and meetings sections of the newspaper, bulletin boards in your favorite neighborhood coffee shop or grocery store, etc. Develop a one-page infographic as the brochure which offers information on:

  • a description of the activity
  • cost
  • when and where
  • website or copy of the listing location

The activity should be described as above noted with the addition of photos or graphics to enhance the brochure. Pictures and graphics are required.

Identifying a Clinical Question

Essentials of nursing Research

Hysterectomy is the clinical problem covered in this question. It’s a medical issue that could result in a rapid drop in sex hormone production (estrogen and progesterone). These sex hormones cause endothelial dysfunction in vessel walls, leading to artery hardening and consequent hypertension (Ali et al., 2015). The problem raised in this PICOT question is that women between 30 and 50 have high blood pressure compared to those who do not. They are more likely to have an acute myocardial infarction during the first year after hysterectomy. Different research articles are studied to investigate this clinical problem.             According to Ding et al. (2018), there is an increased risk of hypertension after the hysterectomy. The authors have researched a population that has gone through this medical procedure, hysterectomy. Hysterectomy is considered the second most common surgery, which is performed in females for the issue of benign uterine pathologies. There is a link between hysterectomy and an increased risk of hypertension which is still debated or controversial. There is a high risk of getting hypertension in women with a hysterectomy. The authors have conducted the study in which they have conducted a population-based retrospective cohort study. The authors have used the data of insured individuals, and information was taken from Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. The women aged 30-49 years were chosen, and the women with or without a history of hysterectomy were chosen for this research. This research concluded that women with a history of hysterectomy are more likely to be diagnosed with hypertension issues. However, the relationship between hysterectomy and a high risk of hypertension remains controversial.

The research conducted by Madika et al. (2021) investigated the risk of hypertension among women with a history of hysterectomy. The authors have studied the relationship between hypertension and hysterectomy. They found an increased risk of hypertension among women having a history of hysterectomy and with or without oophorectomy. Women with uterine fibroids and hysterectomy are usually overweight and hypertensive. Therefore, they face the issues of high blood pressure. According to this research, even after controlling for potential confounding factors, women with a history of hysterectomy suffer from a high risk of hypertension or high blood pressure issues. In addition to that, the women who had a hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy had the same risk of getting high blood pressure issues. According to this large prospective study, hysterectomy and non-malignant gynecological disorders are two issues that were linked to an elevated risk of hypertension. Therefore, it is suggested that blood pressure monitoring can be advantageous or beneficial for women with these types of diseases.

Tsai et al. (2016) looked at the difficulties of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and hypertension in middle-aged women who had undergone a hysterectomy or were postmenopausal or premenopausal. The authors have studied the women participants in Nurse Health Study. These women participants have gone through hysterectomy. The authors evaluated these women participants to observe the incident events and death rate due to coronary diseases. The authors of this research have set the aim to report long-term outcomes and mortality rates after the hysterectomy. During a 24-year follow-up period, the researchers compared women who underwent a hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy to women who had ovarian conservation. According to the study, women with a 35-year life expectancy after surgery are expected to die one more time for every nine oophorectomies performed.

Furthermore, women who get bilateral oophorectomy at the time of hysterectomy for the benign disease had a decreased chance of breast and ovarian cancer than women who have ovarian conservation. On the other hand, these women had a higher risk of death, fatal and non-fatal coronary heart disease, and lung cancer. As a result, this study concludes that women who have undergone a hysterectomy are at risk for hypertension and high blood pressure difficulties.

According to Ali et al. (2015), hysterectomy is considered the most common surgery (gynecological). However, there may be severe consequences for health when a woman goes through a hysterectomy. These issues relate to serious coronary diseases such as hypertension and high blood pressure issues. There were various complications following hysterectomy surgery. These complexities can range from minor to severe, and some of these issues might be life-threatening. Such as the patient can also die after the surgery by facing high complexities.

It should be noted that some of these consequences may keep the patient away from working. They may result in death or lifelong injuries and disabilities. The researchers used a simple random sample. The sample consisted of 120 post-hysterectomy women. These women were studied to evaluate and observe their coronary diseases. According to this research, the researchers concluded that using a well-designed nursing care strategy is vital and was successful in reducing post-hysterectomy problems.

In another research by Mahmoud et al. (2021), hysterectomy is found among reproductive-age women as a common surgery. The authors have presented a nursing care plan and discussed the importance of a nursing care plan for women undergoing hysterectomy. A nurse must be aware of all the physical care required by the women who undergo a hysterectomy. The nurse should be aware of her emotional needs and anxiety levels. The authors conducted their research at a gynecological inpatient unit of a university hospital’s obstetric and gynecological department. The authors studied how 40 nurses have provided care to patients (women) with hysterectomy. They studied how the implementation of an educational program among the nurses can help achieve better results in nursing care provided to patients with hysterectomies. The authors concluded that when the educational program was implemented in a healthcare organization, the nurses’ performance related to pre and post-hysterectomy surgery of women has improved significantly. The results show that there has been significant growth and improvements in nursing care after implementing this program for hysterectomy patients. Therefore, it is crucial to plan a long-term training program to improve nurses’ abilities and understanding in caring for women who have removed their uteri.

Among all the five research papers, the research done by Ali et al., (2015) is considered the best as it supports the nursing intervention for the chosen topic (clinic problem). The researchers suggested that using a well-designed nursing care approach is critical and effective in decreasing post-hysterectomy difficulties in this study. According to Ali et al., (2015), hysterectomy is the most common operation among reproductive-aged women (gynecological). However, when a woman has a hysterectomy, there may be significant health implications. These problems are linked to significant cardiac conditions like hypertension and high blood pressure. Following a hysterectomy, there were several problems. Various problems following hysterectomy surgery were covered in the study. These disorders can range in severity from minor to severe, and some of them may be life-threatening. For example, the patient may die due to the surgery’s high complexity. It’s worth noting that some of these side effects may prevent the patient from working. They could lead to death or long-term damage and disabilities. The researchers used a basic random sample. A total of 120 women who had undergone a hysterectomy were included in the study. These women were investigated to assess and monitor coronary artery disease. Therefore, this research paper is considered more important as it significantly addressed the research problem and suggested a solution to treat the problem. The women who have gone through hysterectomy need nursing care after the surgery that can help deal with the post-hysterectomy problems, including hypertension and high blood pressure issues. The nurses can educate the women on dealing with such issues after the surgery.

Due to the fundamental impact of health information technology on nursing practice, nurses have a critical role in the health care system development life cycle (SDLC). In this light, nurses should be actively engaged in all the five crucial stages of SDLC (Verma & Gupta, 2017). There are potential consequences related to the non-involvement of nurses in all the stages of SDLC during the purchase or implementation of the new system since they engage in directly using and integrating it in the operations. Planning and Requirement Definition

The requirement phase entails defining the system requirement and conducting feasibility tests to assess the system’s viability. Excluding nurses from this phase may lead to the implementation of an ineffective system that does not address all the staff needs, thus failing to improve patients’ care as planned. Nurses focus entirely on the provision of patients’ care and improvement of outcomes, which places them in a better position to determine which feature when incorporated in the planning and requirement definition phase, is likely to be effective in improving clinical care.

Analysis Phase

In the analysis phase, system requirements and workflows are examined. The exclusion of nurses from the analysis phase results in developing a system that lacks a positive workflow or, even worse, if the system lacks an actual input workflow. Nurses work closely with patients and collaboratively with other health professionals (Verma & Gupta, 2017). This implies that they have a better understanding of the workflow in healthcare. Thus, the inclusion of nurses in the analysis phase is a crucial remedy for ensuring the development of the system with a favorable workflow.

Design Phase

The major activities in the design phase include the data design and interface design. Nurses interact with existing systems as the input and output of patient data (Verma & Gupta, 2017). Thus, nurses understand the essential patient data required at a particular point of care (McGonagall & Mastrian, 2021). Failure to include nurses in the design phase can omit a vital feature during the design. The final designed system may fail to collect all relevant information and have an unfriendly user interface. The inclusion of nurses in the design phase helps eliminates these fatal consequences. It ensures efficiency in integration since nurses are among the practitioners involved in the regular use of the system.

Implementation Phase

The translation of the system design into a functional system occurs during the implementation phase. Nurses’ absence from this phase creates an unfamiliar and unhelpful system that may become non-functional in healthcare. Nurses must participate in implementing a system to understand how to navigate through it and assist other staff who have difficulty using it.

Post-Implementation Support

The lack of involvement of nurses in post-implementation assistance might cause delays when system modifications are performed, resulting in delayed clinical services. In addition, nurses may neglect to report faults in utilizing the system or may not know who to report to, limiting the system’s expected efficiency in clinical treatment. The challenge can be overcome by involving nurses in system post-implementation assistance. The support should focus on exposing the nurses for effective integration.

Consequences of not Involving Nurses in SDLC

Due to the fundamental impact of health information technology on nursing practice, nurses have a critical role in the health care system development life cycle (SDLC). In this light, nurses should be actively engaged in all the five crucial stages of SDLC (Verma & Gupta, 2017). Selection and Planning of a New HIT in My Healthcare Organization

Along with other nurses, I was heavily involved in every level of the SDLC throughout the deployment of an electronic health record system (EHR) in my workplace. Our participation was valuable since it assisted the system development stakeholders to identify faults in the requirement analysis document and the system design that could have harmed the system’s efficiency if not discovered. As a result, including nurses in all stages of the SDLC reduces errors during system development and enables effective decision-making that leads to a working system.

Conclusion

Non-involvement of nurses from all stages of the SDLC results in ineffective or inefficient systems or systems that are completely non-functional. As a result, nurses should be included in all phases of the SDLC to ensure the development of functioning systems that improve clinical care.

The Inclusion Of Nurses In The Systems Development Life Cycle

The Inclusion Of Nurses In The Systems Development Life Cycle

In the media introduction to this module, it was suggested that you as a nurse have an important role in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). With a focus on patient care and outcomes, nurses may not always see themselves as contributors to the development of new systems. However, as you may have observed in your own experience, exclusion of nurse contributions when implementing systems can have dire consequences. Mary Jones is the health information supervisor at Somewhere Home Care, which is Medicare-certified. As required by Medicare, her agency and staff members have been completing and submitting OASIS-C1 data. The staff has been accessing patient data through the OASIS-C1 reports, as well as monitoring and documenting visit patterns and frequency by the agency. In addition, the personnel have been monitoring the cost of supplies utilized per patient. In reviewing the financial data, Mary’s director has indicated that the agency has performed marginally un-der the Medicare prospective payment system. The staff would like to improve financial performance and has met with the leadership team of the agency to discuss a possible plan of action. Although some insurers still pay by the visit, Medicare patients are the largest group in the agency’s payer mix, and Medicare pays a set amount of money for providing care over a 60-day period rather than a per-visit fee. Mary has some statistics available to her to assist the director with formulating a plan. These include: Nursing homework help

Scenario

Dr. Davis frequently works long shifts in the Emergency Department. Recently, he began picking up extra shifts to provide coverage due to understaffing. Within the last 6 months, two providers have left. Until additional staff are hired, those remaining are left to cover the vacated shifts. Additionally, Dr. Davis has a wife, twin girls who are eight, and son who is not yet one year old. The extra hours are beginning to take a toll. Dr. Davis has always had lots of energy and is very positive in the workplace. However, as of late, Dr. Davis seems to be acting differently with patients. Within the last week, his mood has transitioned from being joyful and engaging to being sad, disengaged, and distant. Dr. Davis has also been heard making comments about not feeling appreciated by the organization. It is clear that there should be concern regarding Dr. Davis’s mental state and well-being.
